2016 is my crazy travel year

for those who have been paying attention,
they'll notice that i am still halfway through seoul and tokyo in my entries.
and yet i came back from maldives about a week ago.

so that means, i have 3 travel stories that i need to update.

-.-"

this year being my crazy traveling year,
me and my best friend already made plans for august
 before i went to maldives.

and after i came back,
another two friends joined in and we bought flight tickets for november.

which means..
yes, i have 2 upcoming travel plans :D

i doubt that people have been asking where i got my money;
i don't share my travel pictures except here and on instagram.
i rarely share on fb since there's a wider audience there.

for some reasons, i don't want to shove my travel pics up on everyone's news feed.

and btw, if you ask where i get the money..
it's from my own hard-earned salary.
seriously, i barely have any savings this year.

this got me to really thinking..
you know, money just don't rain down from the sky.

with travelling, that's the deal.
you travel now and live poor most time of the year
(i rarely buy clothes.. it's sad)
or you wait until later, when you have more money yet more commitments
and your health is also not at its peak.

seriously, i'm only 25 but my back hurts almost every day. sigh.

so, yeah. i'm not too proud of my savings account balance.
i might regret this someday, or i might not.
but i don't think i could regret saying i've lived my life.

you can't ever guarantee tomorrow.
maybe you don't get to live until you're 60.

so, on that basis, yeah..
i'm glad i got to see some parts of the world.
some places more beautiful than home,
but still the thought of home fills you with a sort of loneliness.

i'm glad i got to travel when i'm still young and single.

money-wise, then..
i just have to learn to spend wisely.
sounds easier said than done, really.
i can't resist when someone asks me to go anywhere, haha.

wish me luck.

tokyo #2 - tsukiji fish market

below is a bunch of sea creatures photos that you might or might not eat.
but this is tsukiji after all,
the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world.

tsukiji is absolutely fascinating.
you have to go watch videos on youtube to capture the wonders of it.

other than what you can see,
the market does not smell fishy or smelly of any kind.

tsukiji's moving to toyosu in november 2016.
so the next time i'll be in tokyo, there will be no more tsukiji.
:'(

the sell knives the length of your arm over here.
it can cut through bones.

the thing they put on takoyaki, maybe?

they're so cute, i want to drive one!

the not-cleaned fish

octopus so yummy ughh

the busy market in all its glory

seoul #2 - itaewon, N seoul tower, & hello kitty cafe

every big city has its own 'expat town',
and for seoul, that town is itaewon.

itaewon is famous for muslims as the place to go to visit seoul central mosque
and also the place to taste halal korean cuisine :)

itaewon central mosque

flags of different countries

kimchi beef jjigae

about the only pic we had time for sobs
many options for halal food,
this was among the one open that day

after prayers, we moved on to N seoul tower.
it was a cloudy day, though seoul skyline is still something amazing.

tokyo #1 - shinjuku kuyakushomae capsule hotel

i know i'm supposed to finish my seoul trip documentation first,
but right now i'm too excited about tokyo :P
so let me just type up my tokyo experience first..
i promise i'll finish with seoul one fine day, lol.

i was in tokyo from 10/4/16 to 17/4/16.
basically travelled alone, though i also followed trip adik beradik.
(find them on instagram! @tripadikberadik)
followed tour group because i was lazy to do my itinerary :P
but that will be my last time following a group, insyaAllah.

first night in tokyo, i stayed at a capsule hotel.
airasia flight to haneda landed quite late at night,
i managed to arrive at the hotel around 1 am, thru last trains for the day.
nasib baik sampai wehh.

my capsule before i ruined it.

many capsules. can tarik the blinders and tada! privacy.

washroom. this is the place to wash your face, brush your teeth, hairdryer.

complimentary shiseido stuff. looks nice.

bidet toilet which i absolutely have no idea how to operate it.
ni laa masalah barang canggih tapi tak reti pakai -.-"

seoul #1 - ewha women's university & gyeongbokgung

currently:
crazy about descendents of the sun
(or more specifically, song joong ki!)

i was never much a k-drama person.
i've only watched 2 k-dramas before this,
though i do follow running man as of late :P

i didn't go to seoul because i was crazy about everything k-related,
but i did a marathon of running man to get my excitement level up before this trip :P

went there on 1-5 nov.
these entries are definitely a few months late.
a trip with friends,
some we jalan-jalan on our own
but mostly we followed our tour group.
thanks Jom Backpacker team!
esp zul & en halim :)

woke up early in the morning and explored ewha on our own
10 minutes walk from our hostel :)
it was autumn, so those leaves...
